| Cookbook to Memorialize Don Garate |
![]() The Friends of Tumacácori Cookbook is dedicated to the memory of Tumacácori NHP’s beloved chief ranger and historian Donald Garate who passed away in late 2010 after a short and sudden illness. As with anything our Friends group sponsors, profits will be used to support unfunded projects and educational programs at the Park.
It is oriented to mission events that Don loved to plan and
participate in and the history he labored to record. It contains
photos of him in his role of Park interpreter, some of his favorite
recipes as well as dozens of recipes from staff, volunteers and friends
of the Park.
The book features three types of culinary
concoctions:
Mission - cookies, bars and desserts that have been enjoyed at our many Park events; Native American - recipes built around the “three sisters” – corn, beans and squash, and Fiesta - favorite potluck and fruit dishes. |
To
simplify sales, the cost of the cookbook has been rounded off to $10.00.
